Peter Pettegrew was born and spent his early years in California’s Monterey Bay area. His artistic bent appeared at an early age, and he enrolled in the Florida Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. By the time he graduated he was already on his way to establishing himself as one of America's more accomplished landscaped artists.

His work is painterly and best described as an American impressionism. He makes frequent painting forays into Florida’s marshes and river areas and the origin of his paintings is easily identifiable. Known for his brilliant skies, Peter’s work expresses the vastness and beauty on his adopted home state.

Peter and his family live in Orlando, where he also maintains his studio.
