Richard Sloan
1935 - 2007
Richard Sloan was born in Chicago, Illinois. After attending the American Academy of Art, he worked as an advertising illustrator before joining Chicago's Lincoln park Zoo as a staff artist.

Richard was a member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists and, in October, 1990, received the Award of Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the Society: "For those works of Art which best reflect the achievement of artistic excellence in animal and wildlife Art."

Richard's widely acclaimed paintings of the birds and mammals of the Tropical Rain Forest were the result of his frequent trips to the jungles of Central and South America, and his love for their inhabitants. He lived in Florida beginning in the early 1990’s and painted its habitat.

Richard Sloan is listed in "Who's Who in American Art" and "American Artists of Renown".
